Google Nexus VS Apple iPhone

The Internet’s Giant Company, Google, unveiled their first hand phone named ‘Nexus One’ at a press gathering last Tuesday. It is said to be the iPhone’s latest rival and might eventually kill the iPhone. The Nexus One possesses speed improvements and enchanted camera capabilities; the kind of capabilities iPhone failed to deliver. Buyers may purchase the phone unlocked without being forced to sign a contract with network provider.

Price

You can buy Nexus One online directly through Google web store; the device will cost $529. Apple’s iPhone 3GS on the other hand costs $199; but with the two-year contract; it is definitely costs more than the Nexus One.

Applications

Another thing that’s worth looking at is the application store. Apple’s app store offers more than 100,000 applications and its growing very fast. Google’s Android Market on the other hand offers between 15,000 and 20,000 apps. The developers favor Apple and loving every minute of creating the iPhone Apps. However, Google might beat Apple to it since they know the internet better and might win the developers heart eventually. Not to mention they’re controlling the Google Adsense Advertising Network.

The fact that Google’s Android is an open-source platform is attractive to developers. Open-source platform allows an app developer to create an app that is instantly available; but not with Apple. Apple controls the App Store, every single developed application needs to be approved by Apple before they can see it Live on the App Store. Developers are having a hard time with Apple’s approval process.

Google’s Android is supported by many other devices from HTC, Motorola and more to come and so it would definitely get the developers attention.

Hardware

With five-megapixel camera, build-in flash and autofocus; Nexus One makes mobile photography to be worth it. iPhone has 3.2-megapixel camera and doesn’t have a flash. When it comes to usability however, the iPhone has an advantage like multi-touch capabilities like rotate, pinch and zoom the display with their hands.

Apple might come up with another version of the iPhone in June 2010 and the device may get some speed boost, but at this point of time the Nexus One is faster. The processor of Nexus One runs at 1 GHz whiles the iPhone 3GS runs at much slower speed of 600 MHz.

Removable battery is also offered by The Nexus One, unlike the iPhone’s battery which is irreplaceable and sealed inside the device.
