Penny Auction A Scam

Have you been on Facebook lately? Well then you must be familiar with this ad:

Penny Auction Ad

Wow! Macbook Air for RM15? This is too good to be true, and so it is. It seems that Penny Auction is just another scam created by some irresponsible business people. I’m not sure why some internet marketer would ever do such cruel and unethical website like ‘Penny Auction’.

The idea of Penny Auction is simple; you buy bids (pennies) and get screwed. The website is a total scam, and the web developers of the website are bunch of stupid geeks. Here’s why:

Penny Auction Scam

Take a look at the username, “dansfoley2”? I wonder who the heck dansfoley1 could be! Nobody in the whole wide world would ever register a name like “dansfoley2” Even if the guy’s name is Dans Foley he wouldn’t have named his account “dansfoley2”

So what does this mean? Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls get ready for this inconvenience truth: “dansfoley2” is a computer generated bot!

The second thing I’d like to point out is the registration form. It is very insecure, and the registration steps are too easy for an auction website.

You must be 18 year old or older to participate in Penny Auction, but the thing is the website itself doesn’t even care. It is not like that they are going to call you and confirm that you’re indeed at least 18 year old.

it wasn’t like nobody will add 2 at his/her username. my username also has 2. simply because i like no 2 :p

i’d prefer lelong on e-bid. but still, nothing on the net is purely honest. that’s for sure..

That’s true, but how do you explain chris3,roby2,chong5,steven9; these people always being the top bidders and winners at all time.

Read more about penny auction, its an old scam but new in Malaysia. Just like matrix system etc. those are old; but new to Malaysian people.

Celcom once have a bidding contest where a user bought a RM3K phone for less than RM100. A too good to be true situation, and is true. :)

Penny Auction, might be a scam, I don’t know. Maybe it is their marketing strategies, once they get enough bidder they’ll start a real auction? Internet are full of swindlers.

Internet users has to be very careful nowadays. There’s a lot of scam out there on the net. Its now up to them to think wisely.

    4. Mee says:

      Hmm….Its not a scam……I already won a price from the site…..
If someone loose their bid……and become angry….they will just point to other people and said “this is a scam” but actually they just a loser try to blame others….

Speak for yourself m8. The whole world knows that Penny Auction is an old traditional scam site. You must be a little left behind…

It is a scam for sure but at least I did win rm200 digi prepaid on penny auction and I do recognized few bots there..it is hard to win some awesome gadgets like TV, handphone since the bot will be there to outbid you..u need to at least 600 bids to stand a chance to win

Weird user names with numbers are quite common, I know many friends who have their own strange logic for using them, but still I agree it is more than true that number of scam penny auctions are out there. I believe it is because of low entry level – lot`s of cheap crappy scripts are offered in the internet, dishonest persons can easily create new site and steal your money. That`s the reason why I do not trust most of them. I`ve used to stick on solid companies sites like http://www.swoopo.com an http://www.bidfella.com only – no problems so far and I`m happy with my wins.

Bidfella is definitelly scam, you can win but you would have to pay dearly. The site is based on shill bidding, avoid

    9. Aaron Ting says:

i got screwed by pennyauction.com.my.. and I AM 100% SURE they used Shill Bidding! it was a bid 9pm sunday night.. another suspicious one is ubid.com.my.. they seem to have so many bidders but their page visits are very low.. how issit possible???

there are some real ones but unfortunately they are in the states and can’t ship to malaysia.. quibids.com has a pretty clean reputation there.. swoopo.com is dirty since it pits participants from europe and america together.. there is no way you can win with so many bidders across so many time zones.. steer clear until a reputable site emerges in malaysia..

      • Nazz says:

you’re not alone. I actually gave a shot @Macbook Air Penny Auction. and as soon as I figured out the truth about them, I asked them to close my account.

I thought about making my own Penny Auction Site; but I guess there are tons of things that I can do to make a living, so wouldn’t bother cheating people for money. Those guys should be ashamed.

      • Dae says:

most probably reputable site is not possible…. coz it will lose money.. hehe

    10. annnsss says:

Hey, just wondering how did u ask them to close ur account? there are no delete account signs and the only email i see is support@pennyauction.com.my. Did u email them here? I want to close my account too! They’re a bunch of scams! we should report them to the authority.

    11. Kevin says:

Go through the Swoopo registration process to create a username containing any uppercase letters, your registered username will be only lowercase so if you see any usernames containing any uppercase letters, they did not go through the normal registration process otherwise their username would only contain lowercase letters. Give it a try yourself. Try to create a username with an uppercase letter and it will convert your username to lowercase upon registration. In Swoopo, be suspicious if you see usernames that have any uppercase letters as they are obviously not registered users.
