Random Access Memory or simply RAM; is the part of your computer that processes information, geekily saying ‘It Turns Data into Information’. Having short of RAM available, you won’t have enough memory for your computer to do your work. Any given tasks cannot be processed if your computer doesn’t have enough RAM available. If you’re the kind of person who does a lot of work at the same time; especially if you’re a graphic designer and needs to work on multiple Multimedia Authoring software; you might want to think about upgrading RAM.
You will need to figure out how much RAM your computer already has. Take a look at the old computer documents to find out. According to your computer systems, some computers possess a lot of RAM than another. Beginning from 2006 Models PC usually have 1GB of RAM by default. 2010 Models usually have 2GB installed. Older computers have either 256MB or 512MB of RAM. The type of RAM is also important; it can either be SD, DDR, DDR II, DDR III. (this is a little geeky, but you must know this or the RAM won’t even fit into your computer system)
or if you’re running windows – right click on ‘My Computer’ icon and choose ‘Properties’.

After knowing how much RAM your computer already has, you should begin calculating how much RAM you might actually need. Pay attention to the application you are using frequently; do you really need that much of RAM?
Go check out and see how your memory chips are configured and how many slots are available by taking a look inside your PC. The goal is to capably make use of your slot with the proper size and amount of memory chips that will give you the total amount of RAM that you need.
Bear in mind that there is a maximum value for the amount of RAM that your computer can operate. You won’t be able to upgrade your RAM over a certain limit. This might cause your PC to stop functioning properly and make beeping sound. If this happens take off the RAM and consult a technician.
